The Dead Mountaineer's Inn - 1970

Roadside Picnic - 1972

Boris and Arkady Strugatsky

The inspiration to the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games as well as the movie (though loosly) Stalker by Andrei Tarkovsky

If you like scifi books then you'll probably like it

A bleak and desolate existance after the collapse of everything

Mervyn Peake

The dark version of Narnia

Myst: The Book of Atrus - 1995

Rand and Robyn Miller

I love this book which doesn't say a lot since I've already professed my love for the games.

This serves as a bridge and prequel between Myst and Riven.

If you enjoy those games then this is a must read!

Myst: The Book of D'ni - 1997

Rand and Robyn Miller

I would say this is the sequel to Riven and not Myst 3 since that game wasn't even made by Cyan

It delves more into the lore of Myst and is very interesting

The Light Invisible - 1903

Robert Hugh Benson

An interesting read even if it is heavily christian themed

A Terrible Strange bed - 1852

Wilkie Collins

Can't recall anything about this short story, sorry

The Voice in the Night - 1907

William Hope Hodgson

One of his many sea related short stories, still a good read

The House on the Borderland - 1908

William Hope Hodgson

Probably one of if not the first cosmic horror novel.

A vivid book that is a must read if you enjoy the works of H.P. Lovecraft

Highly recommended.

William Hope Hodgson

A nautical horror novel with ghosts.

Highly recommended.

Carnacki, the Ghost Finder - 1910

William Hope Hodgson

1910

A collection of short stories about a detective of the supernatural.

I really enjoyed the first story but found the others to be just alright.

The Night Land - 1912

William Hope Hodgson

The final full novel published before his death during the first world war.

Probably one of the best novels I've ever read and the reason William Hope Hodgson is my favorite author.

The novel is an epic tale that like most of Hodgsons work is very descriptive though this one kicks it up ten notches, but what turn a lot of people off is that the entire novel is written in very archaic style straight out of 17th century english.

There are versions that have rewritten it to be more accessible but to me it felt like it was taking away from the whole experience.

If you could get past that it is an amazing read that's unlike anything from around that time period.

If all the writting I'm doing for this one novel doesn't show my love for this then I don't know what would.

Very highly recommended.

The Demons of the Sea

William Hope Hodgson

A posthumous release of another short story about the sea.
